Club & Community Officer Vacancies

Essex County FA ‘Club & Community Officer’ Vacancies

Support the New Four-Year #MovingForward 2028 Strategy

Would you like to play a leading role in the development of grassroots football clubs and their respective communities across Essex? Two brand new positions have become available as we launch our new four-year #MovingForward 2028 Strategy, with applications welcome until midnight on Sunday 17th November.

We're looking for influential and motivated new members of our Development Team to become ‘Club & Community Officers’, who will work closely with our Thriving Community Club network and support them to continue to deliver and enhance their playing opportunities by becoming more sustainable for the future.

This will include supporting them to recognise their strengths, as well as identifying areas for development which might include finance management, workforce recruitment and development, facility investment and marketing and communications. The two roles will each have a geographical focus.

One officer will support clubs and community organisations in North and Mid Essex, which includes Braintree, Colchester, Maldon, Tendring, Brentwood, Chelmsford, Epping Forest, Harlow and Uttlesford. The second officer will support stakeholders in the South Essex and East London areas of the county, namely Basildon, Castle Point, Rochford, Southend, Thurrock, Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Newham, Redbridge and Waltham Forest.

The second officer, part funded by Leisure United, will also spend time enhancing the community engagement and usage at the Bobby Moore Sports Hub (with a particular focus on under-represented groups), as well as supporting potential future football hub development as we embark on our new #MovingForward strategy.

When identifying a suitable individual for the position, we will look for experience and knowledge of grassroots football and The FA’s and Essex’s new strategies, with an ability to work at a strategic level with a number of stakeholders. Candidates should have an ability to present confidently to a range of audiences and be able to manage a diverse work programme, utilising strong project management skills. This vacancy is not a coaching role.

Phase 1 (online) interviews have provisionally been scheduled for Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd November, with Phase 2 (face-to-face) interviews, provisionally, on Friday 29th November and Monday 2nd December.

A job description for both roles can be found below. Please complete the Application Form and the ‘Section 12 Equality & Monitoring Form’ and return them via E-Mail to recruitment@essexfa.com. For an informal chat about either role, please contact Karl Sear (Football Development Manager) or Nick Emery (Head of Development & Investment).

We promote equality and diversity in employment and welcome applicants from all parts of the community.
