Essex’s #Lockdown3for3 Mindfulness Challenge
Which mental wellbeing activities have Essex’s children found most engaging when spending more time at home recently? The Essex County FA’s #Lockdown3for3 competition is asking inspirational youngsters to share their mindfulness stories on social media.
Whether it’s a colouring-in task or a team activity via Zoom, children in Essex are being invited to share one #Lockdown3for3 example each week on Twitter and Facebook to inspire others to keep active. There is a different category each week:
Week 2: Mental Wellbeing and Mindfulness (from Monday 22nd February)
Week 3: Helping Others (from Monday 1st March)
Young players are invited to contribute a different #Lockdown3for3 suggestion each week, in text, audio or video format, to show others how they’ve been keeping sharp during lockdown. During Week 1, youngsters submitted their ‘Physical Wellbeing’ ideas and now Essex County FA Designated Safeguarding Officer, Helen Hever, is looking forward to what comes next:
She explained: “I can’t wait to see what the kids of Essex come up with, as there are some really inventive ideas out there! We’ve seen a lot of brilliant examples of local children engaging in a positive way during lockdown to keep themselves mentally active, and we really want to celebrate them. It’s great to share the marvellous stories and talents.”
“Youngsters have been inspiring so many with their efforts to raise money or reach out and help those not so fortunate. You could send a video of your football skills, or an exercise routine you’ve put together. Or you could send a message to other young people on what you did to cope with a difficult situation.”
“It would be great to share and support everyone going through lockdown and not having the normal routine. These are difficult times and that often brings out the very best in people. After the three #Lockdown3for3 categories are complete, we’re planning a compilation of the best tweets, Facebook posts and videos, so get your thinking caps on!”
Tweet your ‘Mental Wellbeing’ examples to @EssexCountyFA, interact with ‘EssexFootball’ on Facebook and send in your videos! If you’re tweeting, be sure to include the #Lockdown3for3 hashtag. The best suggestions will ultimately be featured on our website, too!
