ProKit UK Olympian League First Division leaders, Corinthians, now know they will host Toby in the Quarter-Finals of the BBC Essex Saturday Premier Cup after the draw was broadcast by the competition’s supporters on Friday (24th January).

Corinthians defeated Fairlop Rovers 5-2 in the last round to set-up the clash with Toby, who won 2-0 at May & Baker Eastbrook Community ‘A’ in the last 16. Manager Nathan Dewberry was involved in the draw at the County Office in Chelmsford, and he reacted: “We’ve played all the games in this cup so far at home so, hopefully, we can get another win and get into the semi-final of the cup.”

“It’s massive for the club. It’s massive for the players. Some of the players might not have ever even played in this competition before. If we could lift any sort of silverware, it’d be great. But if we can lift the Essex County Cup, that’d be fantastic.”

The final for this year’s competition will be at Billericay Town FC on Wednesday 16th April, and the last remaining eight clubs will be keen to book their place. Amongst those hoping to compete in the prestige match are CSM London, who are going well in the Essex Alliance League Senior Division. They now entertain Runwell Sports who, themselves, are handily positioned in fifth place in the ProKit UK Essex Olympian League Premier Division.

Meanwhile, Old Chelmsfordians were 4-3 winners at Old Southendian in the Fourth Round, and their reward is a home tie against second-placed Alliance League side Frenford (Development). Essex Senior League North Division team Takeley Reserves will meet Catholic United Reserves, victors on penalties after a 4-4 home draw with Lymore Gardens.

Two guests assisted with the Quarter-Final proceedings, Dewberry drawing out the home clubs, while BBC Essex’s Victoria Polley was responsible for the away teams. Those quarter-final matches are due to take place on Saturday 8th February.
