Essex Supports Football v Homophobia ‘Month of Action’
The Football v Homophobia (FvH) ‘Month of Action’ has officially begun, running throughout February to tackle anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination in football.
Now in its 15th year, the campaign works across all levels of the game to promote inclusion, to provide education and to build community. During the Month of Action, clubs, community trusts and foundations, County FAs, leagues, fan groups and organisations are encouraged to amplify the campaign’s message.
It’s a time for footballing communities to unite in making the game a safer and more welcoming place for LGBTQ+ players, fans and staff. There are many ways to support the Football v Homophobia campaign this month, and beyond:
* Register as an FvH Champion: Join clubs such as Leeds United, Sheffield United and Watford in actively promoting inclusion.
* Attend or Organise an Event: Whether it’s a matchday celebration, a community talk or a fundraising initiative, any effort helps spread awareness and support.
* Engage on Social Media: Use the hashtag #FvH2025 to show solidarity, share stories and promote the campaign’s message.
* Support the Rainbow Ball Activation: This year, FvH is working closely with the English Football League (EFL) on the Rainbow Ball initiative, which further highlights inclusion in the game.
Essex County FA Equality & Inclusion Officer, Milly Morgan, hopes to see as many Essex clubs join in as possible. “We’d love to see clubs engaging with the campaign, helping us to share the message that football is For All,” she said. “Supporting Football v Homophobia’s Month of Action isn’t just about embracing diversity - it’s a commitment to tackling discrimination and creating a culture where every player, regardless of who they are, feels at home on the pitch.”
Football v Homophobia’s Month of Action is a crucial moment for football communities to stand against discrimination and to ensure the beautiful game is for everyone. For more information, visit the Football v Homophobia website or contact info@footballvhomophobia.com.
