Essex Teams Compete in FA Walking Football Regional Qualifiers

Growing Popularity and Success of the Format Across the County

Essex was well-represented at the FA Walking Football Regional Qualifiers held on Sunday 13th October, at Parsloes Park, with four teams from the county taking part as players showcased their talent and passion in this exciting new competition.

In the men's 50+ category, Blackmore Athletic competed against strong regional opponents, while Stones Athletic took part in the 60+ age group. Both put in solid performances. In the women’s category, Southend Women’s Walking Football and Romford Ladies Walking Football proudly represented Essex in the Women’s Regional Qualifiers.

Despite a determined effort from all teams, none of the Essex sides managed to progress to the national finals, which will be held on Sunday 3rd of November at St George’s Park in Burton upon Trent. However, their participation in the qualifiers is a testament to the growing popularity and success of Walking Football in the county.

Essex County FA Football Development Officer, Jake Fairman, commented: “It’s great that Essex had representation in all three competitions of the FA Walking Football Cup, and they got an amazing opportunity to compete in a national competition. Walking Football in Essex continues to grow, and I know clubs will welcome the opportunity to compete nationally again in the future.”
