Senior Cup Fourth Round Draw

BBC Essex Senior Cup Fourth Round Draw Revealed On Air

Canvey Island Host Dagenham & Redbridge or Colchester United

Canvey Island have the opportunity to re-create an Essex Senior Cup Final following the draw for the Fourth Round, which was broadcast by BBC Essex tonight (Friday 8th November).

Canvey’s reward for a 3-0 victory at Buckhurst Hill is a home match against Dagenham & Redbridge or Colchester United, who they met in 2002 and 2012 finals respectively. The Senior Cup is now down to the last 16 and, with upsets caused in the last round, the competition is certainly gathering pace as the participants aim for a place in the 2025 final at Colchester United FC.

Elsewhere in the draw, Rayleigh Town, in their debut season in the competition, welcome Vanarama National League South club Hornchurch in the next round, who were winners on penalties at Maldon & Tiptree. It’s a remarkable achievement for Rayleigh, who started in the First Round during their inauguration as a senior-status club in 2024/25.

Hashtag United recorded an excellent 5-3 home win against Southend United last time out. They now meet Harwich & Parkeston who, themselves, caused an upset with their 2-1 victory against Bowers & Pitsea. Billericay Town, going very well in the Isthmian League Premier Division, now entertain West Essex or Chelmsford City.

There were two guests to assist with the draw proceedings. Paul Phelan, Joint-Manager of Little Oakley, drew out the home clubs, while Mark Wallis from the Essex County FA Cups & Competitions Department, was responsible for the away teams.

James Good, fellow Joint-Manager at Oakley, said that their impressive 3-0 victory at home to Basildon United in the Third Round was a landmark: “Tuesday was a particular high point, beating a Step Four club that’s in the play-offs, not just from a performance perspective, but to get the win - a really comfortable home win - was a real positive.”

They now travel to Waltham Abbey, and Good explained how there’s a buzz amongst the players and officials to still be involved: “It’s just a bonus for us, obviously. The league is our bread and butter but, as last year, we used it as a bit of a springboard for a good run of form and, hopefully, we can continue that this season. You can see the teams that are still in the draw and it’s just a bonus to play against teams in Step Three and Four, so we’ll take that.”

Those ties will take place during the week beginning 25th November. You can find all the competition information you need to know in the 'Cups & Competitions' menu above and on our social media channels.
