Double-scorer Lucas Foreman was one of the heroes as Buckhurst Hill (Royals) claimed the Essex Under 12s Cup in a competitive match against Levels.
Foreman put Hill in front early but Denzel Decardi-Nelson equalised for Levels just before the half time interval at Great Wakering Rovers FC. However, Foreman netted again on 45 minutes to help earn his team the silverware.
The opening 15 minutes were very even between the sides, with neither having any major chances. It was Buckhurst Hill who broke the deadlock as the ball was played in from the right wing towards Foreman, who controlled and calmly slotted past Levels goalkeeper Mekhi Roy.
They had a chance to extend that advantage shortly afterwards when a free kick for handball was whipped in from the right-hand side and directed towards Foreman, who managed to get his head to it, but his attempt was caught with relative ease by custodian Roy.
Levels did reply, however, with an attack and goal of their own. A dead ball delivered from the right side into the box led to a goalmouth scramble, where the loose ball fell to Decardi-Nelson, who tapped into the net and tied the game heading into into half time.
Buckhurst Hill started the second half with a chance as the ball was brilliantly played from midfield to Austin Knowles, who hit a thunderous shot from outside the area which was saved excellently by Roy. The Levels ‘keeper was called into action again just afterwards, making yet another incredible save, this time with one hand to deny a great strike by Foreman.
However, the relentless Buckhurst Hill pressure led to their second goal being scored in the 45th minute. Some neat passing in the midfield built towards a pass forward to front man Foreman, who got the ball out of his feet and hit a spectacular, curled shot from 20 yards out which went into the top right-hand corner and gave Hill the lead.
Levels had a chance to reply after an attack built-up on the right wing and the ball was crossed into the box, eventually arriving to Issa Zgaibey who managed to get a shot at goal which went just wide of the left-hand post. Hill could also have extended their lead just before full time.
Foreman was situated in midfield and he moved forward to shoot at goal from close range, with Roy pulling off another impressive save. However it was Buckhurst Hill who won the match in an even affair, meaning their name will be etched onto the Under 12s Cup.
