Following an intensive ten-week period of Sin Bin Training events across the county, the Essex County FA are adding twelve more sessions to the schedule in a bid to encourage clubs and referees to learn about this important change to the laws of the game.

Following a successful two-year pilot period, The FA have sanctioned the use of Temporary Dismissals (more commonly known as ‘Sin Bins’) for dissent offences in grassroots football from 1st July 2019.

For the start of the 2019/20 season, in accordance with the laws of the game as determined by the International Football Association Board (IFAB), Sin Bins will become mandatory across all leagues within the country at Step 5 of the FA National League System and below. County FAs will have responsibility for training participants at Step 7 and below.

This change will have a direct impact on referees, players, clubs and leagues throughout Essex and, as such, a number of essential training sessions have been arranged to allow participants to understand the process of Sin Bins and how they will operate on a matchday. To date, close to 2,000 participants have attended one of the initial 34 sessions.

All training sessions are free of charge and have been restricted to 100 attendees only to allow individuals to engage and ask any relevant questions. A range of venues have been booked throughout the county, with sessions taking place across different weekday evenings and on weekend mornings to provide various options for attendance.

The training is aimed to be delivered to match officials and team managers (or captains) as these individuals will be directly affected by the change, and we encourage participants to book onto a session as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
