Essex Confirms Talent Club Staff Line-Up
Essex’s Girls Regional Talent Club (RTC) have unveiled their Coaching Team for the 2017/18 season, proudly their fifth as license holders of an FA Eli
The Management and Performance Teams are headed-up by Club Manager Sharon Brownlie and Technical Director Steve Downey. They are once again joined by Sports Therapists Sheila Macaulay and Amy McMillan. Stefano Russo will remain as Head of Physical Performance.
The Centre welcome back Kevin Baker to head-up the Under 14s age group alongside Danny Parker. Kevin spent the first three years with Essex at the Centre of Excellence before heading to Arsenal last season. Nikita Runnacles will be doubling-up on her role as Goalkeeping Coach by assisting Joe Sheehan with the Under 16s, alongside Adam Firman.
Paige Wakefield will be taking on the role of Under 12s Assistant having spent the last season as a volunteer coach on Essex’s Female Coach Development Programme. Simon King continues his excellent work as Under 12s Head Coach. Georgia Maxwell Jones has returned to Essex’s programme as Under 10s Assistant having previously worked with the Under 9s. Andy Gibbons moves to Under 10s Head Coach from his assistant role.
There are also a number of voluntary coaches on the programme which include Susan Dorrell, who will still assist with the Under 10s. Lewis Coldham will continue to assist Stefano whilst Danielle Warnes joins the team as part of the Female Coach Development Programme.
34 clubs and centres nationwide deliver coaching and education to the best young female footballers in the country. Essex will again be responsible for the delivery of elite girls’ football development in 2017/18 as RTCs deliver enhanced coaching and support female players’ potential paths along the FA Girls’ England Talent Pathway.
“We’re looking forward to another fantastic year,” said Sharon. “Players have a greater chance of making it all the way through to play England if they’re part of a Regional Talent Club and we’re excited to be a part of this talent pathway.”
