Benevolent Fund

Essex County FA-Connected Charity

supporting grassroots football participants

Players, Referees, Clubs, Officials

A key objective of the Essex County FA Benevolent Fund charity is to assist poor or necessitous individuals who may have been injured whilst playing football or acting as a referee, or in some other official capacity.

This includes making grants to hospitals and other charitable institutions (but not to relieve public expenditure). Necessitous individuals could be members of clubs who are affiliated to the association, or who are members of competitions run in connection.

They may be the dependants of any such person, and could include injuries sustained when traveling to or from a football match. Here are a few more details about the application process...

Applications

Information regarding Benevolent Fund applications, including an application form, can be obtained via E-Mail from benevolentfund@essexfa.com. At this stage, a record is made of the name of the applicant, their club (if applicable) and the date of the injury.

The application is then assigned a reference number and it will be referred to an assessor, who reviews it before contacting the applicant to arrange a convenient time for a brief and informal telephone/video call, or a face-to-face interview.

assessments

Assessments involve a review of the information provided, along with supporting evidence, as required. Discussions take place around any applications made to personal accident insurance schemes, receipt of statutory sick pay and estimated return-to-work dates.

Applicants will be asked to make information available which will assist in the assessment process. Following the assessment, the assessor will produce a summary report with a recommended award as soon as possible.
